- The student possessions insurance policy is a product of UK & Ireland Insurance Services (Online) Limited, which is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. Register Number 312248.

Who underwrites the Irish student possessions insurance policy?
- Student possessions insurance is underwritten by:
- UK General Insurance Ltd. on behalf of UK General Insurance (Ireland) Ltd.
Who can apply for Irish student contents & possessions insurance?
- Students living in halls of residence or private rented accommodation within the Republic of Ireland.
Where & how long does cover apply?
Student contents and possessions insurance is an annual policy. Cover applies in the following locations:
- At your term time / insured address.
- At your parent’s home (s) within Ireland.
- In temporary accommodation.
- Whilst in direct transit to and from your home address (within Ireland) at the beginning and end of each term.
- In locked university /college storage.
How much does the basic cover cost?
- €69 (including government levy).
How much does each optional extension cost?
Please note the basic cover must also be purchased.

Can I insure a bicycle worth more than €500?
No ▬ Under the students contents & possessions insurance policy, the maximum value allowable for pedal cycles is €500.
However if your bike is worth more than €500 we have a pedal cycle insurance product that can cover bicycles up to €3,000 in value.

What are the policy Cancellation terms?
- If having examined your policy you decide that the policy does not meet your requirements, you will have 14 days to cancel the policy and receive a full refund provided no claims have been made or are pending on the policy.
- You may also cancel this policy outside of the 14 days and received a pro-rata refund minus a €25 cancellation charge subject to you meeting the following criteria:
- There have been no claims made or pending on the policy
- Your premium is €60 or more
- There is 4 full months or more remaining on the policy.
If you do not meet any of the above criteria then there will be no refund available to you.

How do I cancel my policy?
If you wish to cancel your policy- you should do so by writing to us at:

- Your Name
- Policy Number
- Date of Birth
- A declaration that no claims have been made or are pending on the policy.
NB: Please note cancellations can only be effective from the date we are contacted, therefore can not be retrospective or cancelled in advance.

How do I make a claim?
- If you need to make a claim, please contact us as soon as possible. If the claim involves a loss of theft, malicious damage, vandalism or any other criminal activity you must report the incident to the Gardai within 24 hours of discovery.

I’m moving, is my Insurance still valid?
- We can ensure that cover is provided at your new accommodation as long as you contact us in advance to advise us of the new address and the date when you are moving. You will also be required to pay any difference in the premium along with a €5 mid-term adjustment fee.

How do I make a change to my policy?
- Please contact us either by phone or e-mail stating your policy number and the change that you wish to make. Most changes will require you to pay an additional premium along with a €5 mid-term adjustment fee. The additional premium is normally worked out on a pro-rata bases.
