• Campus Student Possessions is underwritten by UK General Insurance Ltd on behalf of UK General Insurance (Ireland) Ltd .
• The insurance policy is an annual policy. Cover applies for one year from the date selected by you at purchase.
• The following tables provide only a summary of the main policy benefits and the terms and conditions. For full details of these and all the terms and conditions that apply you should read the policy document a copy of which will be provided on completion of your contract or at any time on request. On receipt of your policy document, you will have time to decide if you wish to cancel the policy. Please see “Your Right to Cancel” for more information.

What is covered?

• Contents/ personal possessions are the household goods and clothing belonging within your accommodation.
• Cover is also extended to include household goods rented to you for which you are legally responsible under a written agreement making you responsible for them.

What am I insured against?

• Loss or damage to your contents / personal possessions by fire, flood, storm, theft, escape of water and other similar causes
  • except clothing, linen and rented household goods- where a deduction is made for “wear and tear”.
• You also have the option to extend your cover to include items anywhere within Ireland.

What else can be insured?

• Accidental Damage(accommodation only) up to €2,000
  • This covers your audio equipment camera equipment, desktop computer equipment, games consoles, television, video and DVD players owned by you for accidental damage.
  • Cover is available for either €1,000 or €2,000
• Desktop Computer Equipment (accommodation only) up to €2,000.
  • This covers your desktop computer (PC) equipment against loss or damage by fire, flood, storm, theft, escape of water and other similar causes.
  • Desktop computer equipment is defined as:
    • Your monitor, hard drive, mouse, keyboard, printer and accessories up to €250 in total including preloaded computer software.
  • Cover is available for either €1,000 or €2,000
• Laptop and Portable Computer Equipment (accommodation only) up to €2,000
  • This covers your laptop computer equipment against loss or damage by fire, flood, storm, theft, escape of water and other similar causes.
  • Laptop & portable computer equipment is defined as:
    • Your portable monitor, hard drive, mouse, keyboard and preloaded computer software.
  • Cover is available for up to €2,000
• Laptop and Portable Computer Equipment (Anywhere within Ireland) up to €2,000
  • This covers your laptop computer equipment anywhere within Ireland for loss or accidental damage.
  • Laptop & portable computer equipment is defined as:
    • Your portable monitor, hard drive, mouse, keyboard and preloaded computer software.
  • Cover is available for up to €2,000
• Mobile Phone up to €1,000
  • This covers your mobile phone for accidental damage or theft anywhere within Ireland.
  • Cover is available for either €500 or €1,000
• Pedal Cycle up to €1,000
  • This covers your pedal cycle for accidental damage or theft anywhere within Ireland.
  • Cover is available for either €500 or €1,000
• All Risk – Specified Items up to €2,500
  • This covers specified contents /personal possession for theft or accidental damage anywhere within Ireland.
  • You may wish to take out this cover if you own items such as Portable audio equipment (i.e. I-Pod), Digital Cameras, Watches, Jewellery or similar items.
  • Excludes cover for: Mobile Phones, Pedal Cycles and Laptop computers as they have their own section.
  • Cover is available for items from €1-€2,500.

Where are they covered?

• Your contents and possessions are covered whilst in:
  • At your term time / insured address.
  • At your parent’s home (s) within Ireland.
  • In temporary accommodation.
  • Whilst in direct transit to and from your home address (within Ireland) at the beginning and end of each term.
  • In locked university /college storage.

What is not covered?

• For most claims you will be responsible for the excess, the first part of any claim that you must pay. This is €100.
• As with any insurance policy, we provide specific cover along with conditions and exclusions to that cover.
• Please note that the policy does not cover maintenance, wear and tear, anything which happens gradually, electrical, mechanical or electronic breakdown, rot, radioactive contamination, sonic bangs, pollution and contamination and date change and computer virus.
• No insurance policy covers all eventualities and you are strongly recommended to review the full policy wording before making your purchase to ensure that the policy meets your requirements.
